In The Ground

Pre-Release. Inspired by the return of Israeli hostages on October 13, 2025 after 738 days of war.
Pre-release of “In The Ground” by David Law.
“In The Ground” is a haunting reflection on captivity, survival, and reunion. Written in response to the return of Israeli hostages on October 13, 2025 after 738 days of war, the song moves from darkness to light - from the moment the music stopped at the Nova festival to the cold darkness that followed, emerging finally into light and the warmth of home - with raw emotion and quiet triumph.
Verse
When the music stopped
I heard you say my name
For all this time it echoed in my brain
When the moon when down
it stayed that way
Seven hundred thirty-eight
Chorus
In the ground
There were times when I could see you
In the ground
I forgot I was alive
There were sounds
Like the heartbeat of a B-2
In the ground
I don’t know how I survived
Verse
Days were nights and our skin was never dry
And I dreamed about the color of the sky
Were you safe at home?
Were you even alive?
We’re frozen in time
Chorus
In the ground
There were times when I could see you
In the ground
I forgot I was alive
There were sounds
Like the heartbeat of a B-2
In the ground
I don’t know how I survived
Bridge
And now I see the sun
for the first time in two years
I feel the sun for the very first time
with you right here
(I’m coming home)
I see the sun for the first time in two years
(I’m coming home)
I feel the sun for the very first time
We’re still here
Chorus
In the ground
There were times when I could see you
In the ground
I forgot I was alive
There were sounds
Like the heartbeat of a B-2
In the ground
I don’t know how I survived
